DIY: Planning on Creating a Plan

Measure Twice, Cut Once

DIY projects have become incredibly popular in recent years. Although there are many home buyers attempting to save money by performing DIY projects, they are often failing to successfully accomplish these projects. It is crucial that every DIY’er has a set plan before they begin their DIY project. As I was once told, “measure twice, cut once”. This refers to the idea that you should never perform your project until you are positive that you are fully prepared. Measure twice; review all your steps more than once, and then when you feel you are prepared to begin your DIY project, begin!

Building a Plan

Many DIY’ers create a plan for their DIY project, except the problem is that their plan is incohesive and unclear. All DIY’ers should build a plan that clearly identifies the goals that need to be accomplished for the project to be done exquisitely. A plan should “paint a picture” in your mind of exactly what you will need and how your room will look once it is completed.

The Vision…

Many times DIY’ers perform their renovations with their friends or family. It is important that everyone involved in the project have the same vision. Again, having a clear and concise plan will not allow for much interpretation and will therefore lead to everyone having the same vision. This ensures that all members know exactly what needs to be done to accomplish each and every goal.

You Snooze, You Lose

If you are the type of person that can lose focus after completing one goal, or losing interest once you are halfway done a project, a great way to keep you focused is to create multiple plans. You can create a thorough plan for each goal, and then once you complete a goal, you can move onto your next plan. This will eliminate the chances of you becoming uninterested in your project when you have not completely accomplished it. Since you will be working with a brand new plan for each goal, you will feel like every new plan is a brand new project, and you will not lose interest.

The Art of Excitement

Since DIY projects can be tough, and can sometimes take months or even years to complete, keeping them fun and exciting is always a great way to make them a more enjoyable experience. People perform DIY projects mainly for two reasons; budget, and the experience of accomplishing something on their own. Making a DIY project a great experience will also lead to it feeling like a fun activity, rather than a chore.

Make your DIY project clear, concise, and fun. Enjoy your next DIY project, and if you want to tell us about your project, please feel free to comment below. Need more tips on DIY projects?! We will be posting more blogs with tips for DIY projects!

Turn Your Home Into A Paradise

Make your Summer Cinematic

Summer is on its way, and you may be wondering if you are actually going to use your backyard this year. Maybe you and your family feel that there is no reason to spend time in your backyard, because there is nothing to do in your backyard. Well, I have the perfect idea for you and your family. Why not make an outdoor cinema?! It may sound like a difficult task, but it is quite simple.

Friends and Family are What’s Important

Want to enjoy many fun nights with your friends and family?! Then this is the perfect DIY project for you. Many of us sit inside most nights and watch movies indoors. Wouldn’t it be incredible to sit outside, watch a movie, and spend time star gazing after the movie?! Many people go to movie theatres for the atmosphere of watching a film with others. The outdoor cinema gives you an excellent atmosphere too.

All you need for an outdoor cinema is a projector, projector screen, your computer, and of course some great movies! I feel an important factor in watching a movie is the people who view it with you. With this outdoor cinema, you can be certain that many of your friends will want to join you for movies.

Friends and family are important, and having an outdoor cinema will bring them together. Who doesn’t like to sit back, crunch on popcorn, feel the summer breeze, and enjoy watching a film with their friends and family? I can assure you, that if any one of my friends had an outdoor cinema I would be there every night with or without them! So get started on this DIY project, and don’t sit inside when you can lounge outside! Savor the upcoming summer, and give me a call when you’re watching your next outdoor movie! Don’t worry, I’ll bring the popcorn!

Organizing your Closet

In the quest of making your home the best possible place to live in, there are many factors to consider. Of course there is the exterior landscaping aspect where the sky is the limit and there is the interior factor where the sky is also the limit. In your home there are many key factors to consider when contemplating improvement. There is the bathrooms renovation aspect, Kitchens, basements and the list goes on. Another aspect to consider when improving your home is the organization aspect.

“Improving your closet entails many options”

One of the most popular areas that can really get messy would be the closet area. Many things are stored in the closet including; clothing, accessories, keepsakes, jewelry etc… Depending on the size of your closet space, there can be many solutions. You can go the route of purchasing closet organizers at your local home improvement store or you may even purchase accessories to add to your closet area. Another way is to have a totally custom closet made for you, which is exciting because the sky is the limit. You can make it interesting by adding secret compartments for those of you willing to get a bit adventurous!
